Parlay Betting Guide
A parlay combines two or more bets into a single wager. All legs must win for the parlay to pay; but the combined odds can multiply your stake several times over. This guide covers how parlays work, the math behind payouts, and the best Michigan sportsbooks for parlays and same-game parlays (SGPs).
How parlays work
Each leg of a parlay must win for the overall bet to settle as a winner. If any leg loses, the entire parlay loses. If any leg pushes (ties), most Michigan sportsbooks reduce the parlay to the remaining legs and recalculate odds.
Building a parlay step by step
Open the bet slip
Add two or more selections (legs) to your bet slip from any combination of games or markets.
Switch to "Parlay"
Most apps automatically detect a multi-leg slip. Confirm the parlay tab is active and the combined odds appear.
Review combined odds
Combined odds multiply each leg's decimal price. Two -110 legs ≈ +264. Three legs ≈ +595.
Stake and confirm
Enter your wager. The slip will display the potential payout. All legs must win for the parlay to cash.
Parlay payout examples
The table below shows approximate $10 parlay payouts at standard -110 odds. Real-world prices vary based on the underlying odds of each leg.
| Parlay size | Approx. payout on $10 |
|---|---|
| 2 legs at -110 | $10 → $26.45 (+264.5) |
| 3 legs at -110 | $10 → $59.55 (+595.5) |
| 4 legs at -110 | $10 → $122.65 (+1,226.5) |
| 5 legs at -110 | $10 → $245.65 (+2,456.5) |
Same-game parlays (SGPs)
A same-game parlay combines multiple legs from a single game; for example: Lions to win + Goff over 250 passing yards + St. Brown anytime TD. Because legs in the same game are correlated, sportsbooks adjust the combined price below a true parlay multiplier. SGPs are heavily promoted in Michigan, especially on NFL Sundays.

Risks of parlay betting
Parlays carry a higher house edge than single bets. The combined hold on a 4-leg -110 parlay is roughly 21.4%; more than double a single -110 wager. Treat parlays as low-cost, high-variance entertainment, not a primary betting strategy.
